Born in Bangor, ME, March 10, 1938, Denny (as he preferred to be called) passed away from us and into the arms of his Savior on December 20, 2011, at Orchard Grove Nursing Home.
Denny came to CT in 1960 after graduating from the University of Maine and accepting a position with the Naval Underwater Systems Center in New London, CT. That same year he met his future wife, Carol Hathaway and this past July marked their 50th anniversary.
During his thirty five years of service at the Lab, Denny received his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He also took two sabbaticals during his working career. One at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and the other at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. Both were for a year teaching Electrical Engineering.
In September of 1994, he retired from the Lab. In December of 1994 he and his wife, Carol, then moved to Pensacola, FL. Denny renewed his love for teaching and taught engineering at the Pensacola Christian College for over ten years. He loved teaching and watching his students grow in the Lord and in the engineering field. Many times he would say he felt so blessed to have had such a wonderful career.
No one who knew Denny will ever forget his favorite pastime frequently visiting Disney World and Disneyland and spending time with his good buddy Mickey Mouse.
Denny is survived by his wife, Carol and their three children. Scott and his wife Doreen and their children Ashley and Cody of Uncasville, CT., Sean and his wife, Kristin and their children, Seanna, Katelyn, Britany, and Zachariah of Coventry, RI, and Shelly Fessenden Hathaway Woodbine and her husband, Lance and their children Mikaela and Leo of West Greenwich, RI. He also leaves a brother, Gerald Fessenden and his friend Lyn of Montpelier, VT, a sister-in-law, Linda Hathaway of Bainbridge, NY, and three nephews and three nieces. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Louise (Eisnor) Fessenden.
Denny loved the Lord and openly shared his faith with anyone whom would take a moment to listen to his testimony. He was a member of Lakes Pond Baptist Church.
A private graveside service for family will be followed by a Memorial Service for all those who wish to attend at Lakes Pond Baptist Church, 1144 Hartford Rd., Waterford, CT on December 31 at 11 am.
