NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Thomas G. Menard, age 47, at 10:00 am Friday, April 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Mark Derise will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at Holy Family Mausoleum at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A native of Shreveport and resident of Youngsville, Thomas passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Thomas worked with Shaw Global Energy Services for 16 years and was serving as a Construction manager at the time of his death.
Thomas was a singer and musician and played guitar. Through the years, he has played with several bands in the Acadiana area and entertained many with his music. He had a love for life, music, and his family and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Copeland Menard of Youngsville; his son, Thomas J. “Tommy” Menard of Baton Rouge; parents, Francis and Barbara Mallet Menard; sisters, Francine Gondran and Richard of New Iberia, Evelyn Bourque and Mark of New Iberia, Jo Ellen Dufrene and husband Chris of Youngsville; brother, Kendall Menard: nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Erin and Justin Gondran, Lance and Jordan Bourque, Spencer and Victoria Leger, Rylen Doucet, Shelby and Dylan Menard, and Mollie Coleman; his in-laws, Ralph and Sherry Coleman of Youngsville; and brother-in-law, 1st Lt. Travis Coleman and Heather of Del Rio, TX. He also leaves behind his Godfather, Alexis “Al” Mallet, Jr. and his Godmother, Marie Comeaux.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alexis, Sr. and Adelia Mallet, and Homer and Azilda Menard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas J. “Tommy” Menard, Kendall Menard, Richard Gondran, Mark Bourque, Chris Dufrene, Lance Bourque, Spencer Leger, and Justin Gondran. Honorary pallbearers will be 1st Lt. Travis Coleman, Jordan Bourque, Ralph Coleman and Dylan Menard.
