NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Horace J. Hebert, Sr., the former Ruth Vincent, age 88, at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Fr. Keith Landry will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the service time. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Hebert passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Ruth was born on January 16, 1932 to the late Adolph and Hermina Vincent. She was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved tending to her gardens and being outside in the sunshine. Ruth was known to be an amazing cook. She would often cook for the neighborhood and feed anyone who was looking forward to a good meal. Later in her life, Ruth discovered a love for painting. It became a calming hobby for her which she really enjoyed. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Ruth will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Keith Hebert. Horace “Hodgie” Hebert, Jr. (Betsy), and Simone Hebert LeBourgeois (Herman); brothers, Wesley Vincent and Billy Ray Johnson; sisters, Eva Romero and Matilda Borel; seven grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace J. Hebert, Sr.; father, Adolph Vincent; mother, Hermina Tauzin Johnson; daughter-in-law, Joy B. Hebert; brothers, Richard Vincent, Wade Vincent and Duncan Johnson; and sister, Cindy Broussard.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
