Lucille Wright Tucker

NEW IBERIA – A gathering of family and friends will be held for Lucille B. Wright Tucker, age 87, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home. The funeral home will be open from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A native of Mineola, NY and resident of New Iberia, Lucille passed away at 9:22 am on Monday, May 2, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 9, 1928 to the late Clemens and Maude Wright, Lucille was one of four children. She was born in Uniondale, NY where she graduated from Freeport High School in 1945. Lucille worked at a Gum factory while she was still a student before going on to own a restaurant with Helen Savoy and Elenor Townsend. She then worked for the Nassau County Police Department in New York for twenty three years before retiring.

Lucille was a proud member of the Women’s Auxiliary and the Federation of Republican Women. She enjoyed traveling, baking, and cooking. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving spouse of twenty-eight years, Udo Grosse-Lengerich; son, Fred P. Kern of Rotonda, FL; daughters, Jeannette Gonsoulin and husband Chris of New Iberia, Patricia Puckett of Las Vegas, NV, Belindakay Ryals of New Iberia, and Lanae Lopez and husband Matt of New Iberia; step-children, Charles Tucker and wife Cindy of Kaplan and Renee Tucker of New Iberia; grandchildren, Lisa Kiernan, Paula Ferrante, Joseph Verde, III., Richard Bills, Steven Bills, Jeanette Edmond, Jacques Gonsoulin and wife Jessica, Angele Gonsoulin, Austin Gonsoulin, Fallyn Gonsoulin, Donald Segura, Jeremy Ryals, Latricia Romero, Matthew Lopez, and Ian Tucker; thirty-four great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Kern; parents, Clemens and Maude Mary Dubois Wright; brothers, Clemens Augustis Wright and Norman Elsworth Wright; sister, Alice Virginia Wright; daughter, Virginia Kern McNicholas; and grand-daughter, Diahanna Bills.
