NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Joseph Romero, the former Lena Domingue, age 84, at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Brian Harrington officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Tuesday until time of service with a Rosary at 11:00 am.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero passed away at 6:05 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Belle Teche Nursing Home.
Mrs. Romero enjoyed staying busy, visiting with friends for coffee. She loved spending time outdoors in her yard gardening and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Frederick and husband Lloyd of New Iberia; two sons, Russell Romero and wife Terrie of New Iberia and Joseph “Joe” Romero and wife Donna of Erath; eight grandchildren, Chad Frederick, Shane Frederick, Nicole Romero, Todd Romero, Brent Romero, Dave Romero, Lance Romero, Jeremy Romero and her great and great great grandchildren, one sister, Verna Falgout and husband Gale of New Iberia and her daughter in law, Linda Romero.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Romero; son, Wayne Romero; grandson, Jamis Romero; great grandson, Gage Romero; parents, Neuville and Editha Morvant Domingue; four brothers, Charles James, Odelon, Dennis and Walter Paul Domingue and six sisters, Helen Duhon, Fannie Bodin, Edith Bourque, Willa Mae Romero, Lydia Moreaux and Elaine Hulin.
Pallbearers will be Chad Frederick, Todd Romero, Cody Stansbury, Tyler Frederick, Lance Romero and Jeremy Romero.
