NEW IBERIA- A native of Delcambre and resident of New Iberia, Kirby “Paw” Babineaux, age 76, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
Kirby, who was better known as “Paw”, was a devoted husband to his wife Norma for 32 years. He was a loving father, brother, and a friend to all who ever knew him. Paw enjoyed running his crawfish cages and was very proud of his big sized crawfish this year. He also liked fishing, hunting, his body work business, and occasionally playing the slot machines. Paw especially loved watching his grandkids play different sports. Kirby and his wife took care of under school age kids for over 20 years. What a joy he found in that job, they were his world. Once you had Kirby as a friend, he was your friend forever.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Norma Simon Babineaux; son, Dane Babineaux (Lauren) of Temple, TX; daughters, Tessa B. Sinyard of Vermilion Parish, Tammy B. Simon (Chip) of Iota, Tracie Estay (Roland) of Morgan City, and Jessica McZeal (Tony) of Conroe, TX; step-son, Todd Landry; brothers, Andrew Babineaux (Ramona) of Erath and Gordy Babineaux, Jr.(Ruth) of New Iberia; sister, Andrea B. Viator (Rodrick); mother-in-law, Nellie Simon; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordy Babineaux, Sr. and Flavie Hollier Babineaux; sisters, Brenda Ronsonet, Joyce Suire, and Genevieve Leleux; and father-in-law, Earl Simon.
The family would like to thank the staff of NSI Hospice and Elara Home Health employees for the care given to Kirby when needed.
