Julius Joseph "Jules" Segura Sr.

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Julius J. “Jules” Segura, Sr., age 87, at 10:00 am Saturday December 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Jude Thierry will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.

A gathering of family will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Friday from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Saturday from 8:00 am until services.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Segura passed away on Thursday December 16, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center, with his family at his side.

Jules, as he was known by family and friends, was born February 20, 1923 to Avril and Rosalina Landry Segura. He was retired from McIlhenny Co and worked as a farmer on Avery Island for over 30 years. He loved tending to his gardens and sharing the vegetables and fruit with family and friends. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his children, Ronald Segura and wife Gisela of New Iberia, Julius J. Segura, Jr. and wife Mary of New Iberia, Larry D. Segura and wife Carol of New Iberia, and Judy S. Landry and husband Robert of New Iberia; step-son, Enol Joseph Guillot and wife PalRita of New Iberia; seventeen grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Touchet Segura; an infant daughter; parents, Avril and Rosalina Landry Segura; and his sister, Eunice Rouly.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Segura, Scotty James Segura, Rusty James Segura, Kelly Roy Segura, Cory James Landry, and Coby Michael Landry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Drake Segura, Tad Segura, and Brenden Vilcan
