COTEAU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. C.J. Babineaux, the former Judy Ann Fremin, age 75, at 10:30 am Monday, March 19th, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau with Fr. Ed Degeyter and Fr. Brian Harrington officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia on Sunday March 18th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm with the rosary at 6:00 pm by the Ladies Altar Society. The funeral home will reopen Monday March 19th at 8:00am until 10:00 am.
Judy was born in Burke, LA and grew up helping in her mother’s grocery store. She graduated from NISH, class of 1961. Judy’s kindness and compassion was evident in her beautiful smile. She cherished family and friends and loved children.
She was a member of the church choir, Ladies Altar Society, taught religion for more than 25 years, and co-founded the Children of Mary Sodality in Coteau. She was a PTC member and a paraprofessional reading instructor at Coteau Elementary School for 28 years. She was also a member of Delta Daylily Society, Acadian Orchid Society, and Acadiana Rose Society.
She is survived by her loving husband, Clarence J. “C.J.” Babineaux of Coteau; sons, Clarence P. and Rodrick Babineaux of Coteau; daughter Teresa Olivier and husband Jamie of Coteau; sister, Marine Bonin of New Iberia; sister-in-law Sherry B. Romero; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine Lopez Bailey and Laureal Fremin; her son Wendell Babineaux; her sisters Agnes Langlinais, Inez Vincent, Joy Rita Sorrells and her brothers Wilton, Raymond, and Clarence Bailey.
Pallbearers will be Zachary, Chris, and Jeremy Olivier, Nicholas and Quinton Babineaux and Ryan Romero. Scott Bailey will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
