

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Phil C. Thibodeaux, the former Judith “Judy” Bell, age 70, at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am Saturday until service time.
A native of Wheeling, West Virginia and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Thibodeaux passed away at 9:36 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Mrs. Thibodeaux served her country honorably in the Women’s Army Corp. As a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Judy was a flight attendant for Continental Airlines. She was a journalist who worked at the Morgan City Daily Review, KMRC Radio Station, and KHOM TV in Houma and served as the Society Editor for the Daily Iberian.
Mrs. Thibodeaux enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to the Acadiana Bridge Club of Lafayette and the Les Amis Bridge Club of New Iberia.
As all of her dear friends know, Judy loved butterflies and had an extensive butterfly pendant collection and as per her request, please wear a butterfly on Saturday. She loved spending time with her husband and children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Phil C. Thibodeaux of New Iberia; four children, Kathy T. Cramm and husband Fred of The Woodlands, TX, Colonel Keith L. Thibodeaux and wife Laurie Baronet of Lafayette, Kristy A. Sturm and husband Joey of Youngsville, and Kevin P. Thibodeaux and wife Erin of Orange Beach, AL; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Verde, Kyle Cramm, Michelle Bray, Joshua Freeman, Kyle Thibodeaux, Brett Sturm, Breanne Sturm, Brennan Sturm, and Kaycee Thibodeaux; three great grandchildren, Luca Verde, Jude Bray, and Peyton Bray; and three brothers, Larry F. Bell and wife Ronnie of Houma, Jack Bell and wife Jennifer of Okeechobee, FL, and Jeff Bell and wife Shelly of Clermont, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Faris and Helen Foster Bell.
Pallbearers will be Colonel Keith Thibodeaux, Kevin Thibodeaux, Joey Sturm, Fred Cramm, Brennan Sturm, Brett Sturm, Kyle Thibodeaux, and Josh Freeman. Larry F. Bell, Jack Bell, Jeff Bell, Larry Castille, Michael Declouet and Richard Ozenne will serve as honorary pallbearers.
