A native of Sugarland, TX and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Brice passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Iberia Medical Center.
Born on October 11, 1949 to the late Jack and Barbara Sandifer Brice, James was one of three children. Better known as “Jim” by family and friends, Jim was a hardworking and dedicated person, having worked in the Oil Field for just over 40 years, and always made sure to provide for his family. He was also an easy-going and fun loving man who enjoyed life to the fullest. One of Jim’s great joys was working on his 1964 Corvette Stingray car with his children.
In his younger days, Jim had an artistic streak and spent a lot of time painting and making art. Later in life, Jim discovered the joy of traveling. He and his wife made many trips - especially their “BBQ Roadtrips” where they would travel from state to state for some good eating!
Jim had many passions in life. He was a proud and patriotic man who strongly supported the 2nd amendment. Jim was a licensed firearms dealer and advocate for gun ownership. He absolutely loved going to the gun range with his children and grandchildren and teaching them to shoot.
Above all, Jim was a family man and his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife Peggy Taylor Brice, who supported him in all he did, and lovingly supported him during their last days together. He was a loving father to his beloved children and of the many names that Jim went by, “Paw-Paw” was his favorite. He adored his grandchildren, as they were the light of his life.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to all, Jim will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Taylor Brice; son, Pastor Travis Brice (Angela); daughters, Kelly Brice Reid (Jeffrey) and Fannie Brice Trahan (Wade); brothers, Larry Brice (Ann) and Garry Brice (Jeanette); grandchildren, Macy Elaine Hill, Lorelei Sonnier, Wyatt Sonnier, Jack Trahan, and Max and Leo Trahan; and great grandchildren Zoe Hill and two great granddaughters on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
