Gladys Broussard Berard

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Gladys “Coke” Berard, the former Gladys Broussard, age 90, at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2011 with a Rosary at 11:00 am.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Berard passed away at 9:27 pm on Monday, July 11, 2011 at her residence.

Gladys enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a music lover and also enjoyed travel, sports, dancing and the casino. Gladys was a fun loving person and will be missed by all who loved her.

The family would like to extend a person thank you to her caregivers Bobby and Vickie Prados, Robin and Kyle Theriot, Carolyn Bouillion, Misty and Daryl Melancon and her physician Dr. Mike Alvarez.

She is survived by two sons, Johnny Berard and wife Cheryll of Loreauville, Randy Berard and wife Robin of New Iberia, one daughter Dianne Berard Dugas of Loreauville, one brother Anthony “J-Bird” Broussard Jr. of New Iberia, eight Grandchildren and fourteen Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Berard, Sr., son Roy Berard, Jr., parents Anthony and Odette Broussard, sister Elaine Newell, brother Harold Broussard and one Great Granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Berard, Randy Berard, Anthony Broussard, Jr., Brett Berard, Braedon Berard, Jacob Freyou and Dwayne Berard.
