Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home for Curtis James Robicheaux, age 80, who passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family will receive guests on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.
Interment will be held at Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Graveside Honors by Acadiana Veteran’s Honor Guard.
Brother Zack Mitchell will officiate the services.
Survivors include one daughter, Kisha R. Valentine and husband Clint; three sons, Kasey Robicheaux and wife Michelle Romero; Kirk Robicheaux and wife Erica and Kelvin Robicheaux and wife Carmin; sixteen grandchildren, Michael Valentine and wife Holly; Amanda Dillon; Judith Valentine; Sadie Valentine; Samantha Valentine; Amber Breaux; Keely Robicheaux; Miles Robicheaux; Luke Robicheaux; Grant Robicheaux; Jules Robicheaux; Olivia Robicheaux; Julia Robicheaux; Grace Robicheaux; Patrick Robicheaux and Ethan Robicheaux; four great grandchildren, Waylon Valentine; Cash Valentine; Haislie Valentine and Vivian Robicheaux; four sisters, Hedy Estilette; Debby Usey, Tammy Berard and husband Dwayne and Jane Martin and husband Gregory and numerous nieces nephews and extended family.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Elfige and Grace Chataignier Robicheaux; his wife, Judy Ann Trahan Robicheaux; two brothers, Mark Robicheaux and Michael Robicheaux and three sisters, Audrey Rivet; Rona Lilly and Jenny Hulin.
A native of Catahoula and resident of New Iberia, Curtis loved his country and was honored to represent this great nation in the US Army. He served as a Radio Operator and a French translator.
Curtis was an Electrical Supervisor in the oilfield for 35 years and always had a project to work on or tinker with.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, bird watching, football, sipping on a coke and eating ice cream.
His family will always remember his sense of humor and his love of joke telling.
