NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be held for Clara Comeaux Bergeron, age 81, at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia. Deacon Marty Cannon will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bergeron passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by her loving family.
Clara was a kind and loving woman who lived her life to the fullest. She was always on the go and enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards (especially Bouré), dancing, and traveling with her companion, Cyrus Vallot. Together they would hop on their motorcycle and visit places all over the United States. Clara was most proud of having taken the trip to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She was truly a people person who never met a stranger. But most of all, Clara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters Melissa Kapp (Chris) and Celeste B. Lavergne; companion, Cyrus Vallot; grandchildren, Heather Collins, Kimberly Albert, Mallory Clements, Britney Stutes Meaux, Brandon Bergeron, and Hayley Bergeron Smith; great grandchildren, Gage Thibodeaux, Hunter Thibodeaux, Rylee Clements, Raegan Clements, Hudson Albert, Bailey Theriot, and Miles Theriot; and one great great grandchild on the way, Beau Michael Thibodeaux.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “R.J” Bergeron, Jr.; parents, Eno and Sophie LeBlanc Comeaux; son, Barron Bergeron; and siblings, Anna Mae Loraine, Virginia Ronsonet, Ramona Plaisance, Leola Delahoussaye, Janelle Abshire, Marline Rogers, Melba Logg, Kelly Comeaux, Alton Comeaux, and Maxi Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be Gage Thibodeaux, Hunter Thibodeaux, Miles Theriot, Dylan Albert, Damein Clements, and Brandon Bergeron.
