Carroll James Aucoin, age 83, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 18, 1941, to the late Dozia and Luna LeBlanc Aucoin in the heart of New Iberia.
Carroll was a man of many roles, but above all, he cherished his roles as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His family meant the world to him, and he poured his heart into caring for them.
In his earlier years, Carroll served proudly as a member of the Louisiana National Guard, embodying a spirit of duty and service to his community and country.
For over two decades, he dedicated himself to the oilfield industry, working tirelessly with Movable Offshore. His hard work and dedication contributed significantly to the industry's advancements, earning him the respect of his peers and colleagues.
Upon his well-deserved retirement, Carroll indulged in his passion for the outdoors. He found solace and joy on the water, where he pursued his newfound love for crabbing. Spending his days trolling and crabbing, he delighted in providing his family with the freshest and most delicious seafood, a true testament to his generosity and love.
In addition to his love for the water, Carroll and his beloved wife enjoyed the occasional thrill of trips to the casino, relishing each moment spent together.
A sports enthusiast through and through, Carroll found immense joy in cheering on his favorite teams, with LSU and the Saints holding a special place in his heart. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he shared many memorable moments with family and friends while watching games on television.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Shirleen Hebert Aucoin; two daughters, Celeste A. Peltier and husband, Todd and Candace A. Comeaux and husband Vince and two grandchildren, Chalisse Peltier Gould and husband Andrew and Nicholas Comeaux and fiance’ Victoria Liberto.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Evangeline Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate the services. The family will observe visiting hours on Friday, April 26, 2024, beginning at 9:00 am until the time of the service.
Mr. Aucoin will be laid to rest at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville.
