NEW IBERIA – A Funeral Service will be held for Bettye Johnson Scott will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. Ken and Stephanie Leleux of Glorious Church Worship Center will officiate.
Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in New Iberia.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00 am until time of service at Evangeline Funeral Home.
Bettye was born on August 25, 1933 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late Ronald and Letha Chitty Johnson. She passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Iberia Medical Center.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends and the memories they made. She also cherished her church family where she played the piano for Sunday services for over 30 years.
She will be remembered by her loved ones as a great cook and seamstress and a wonderful cosmetologist.
Survivors include her children, Lynda Susan Scott and Walter Scott, III and wife Lynn; six grandchildren, David Allen, Jason Scott, Lucas Scott, Leah Scott, Hannah Scott Mowad and Sarah Scott Templet; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Henry P. Johnson one sister, Joan Paschall and her two nieces, Amanda Johnson and Melissa Ferri.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Scott, Jr.; one son, Harry Lee Scott and one grandson, Robert Scott.
Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
