Roger John Thoennes

Roger was born on March 29, 1941 to Lawrence and Marcella Thoennes in Urbank, MN. He attended country school in Leaf Mountain Township and was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. Roger enlisted and served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1963.

Roger married the love of his life, Sharon, on May 4, 1963. Shortly after being married, they began farming near Urbank where they were blessed with four children. Roger and Sharon raised their kids on the family farm where they enjoyed dairy farming, horseback riding and camping. He dearly loved the farm life especially his pony Cocoa, horses Tonka and Chico and his dogs Dutches and Bella. In 1985, Roger and Sharon moved to Crystal, MN where he worked for a roofing company, Dalbec Roofing, running crane and then retired. Roger decided to be semi-retired and began working with Youngsteds to fill his time until he fully retired in 2023.

Roger is survived by his four children, Scott, Lori (Jim), Dale (Teresa), Michelle; grandchildren, Corey (Kaley), Justin (Kayla), Brady (Venus), Nicole (John), Katie (Zach), Megan (Alex), Rocco, Chance (Kelsey), Amber, Randi, Ally (Nick), Trent (Holly), Brett, Amanda (Nick), Autumn, Mariah, as well as 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Florney (Joe), Carol, Bob (Karen), Linda (Dick), Jeff (Cindy).

Roger is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, parents Lawrence and Marcella, brothers Rolly, Larry, great-grandsons Payton and Leighton.

Roger will be dearly missed by all.

A Celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2024 at the Crystal VFW from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
