Our father passed away after a short illness. Many would describe him as an extrovert, a master story-teller, and BS-er, with a penchant for a quick wit. Our dad enjoyed telling his stories to anyone who would listen, and was not afraid to tell them more than once. His remarkable memory allowed him to share his life on the farm, military service, and other life events with us.
Dad grew up on a farm and took with him the solid work ethic that enabled him to start his own business as a Paint Contractor. Ferry Decorators was a successful small business that he started in 1962. He took great pride in the detail and quality of his work in custom homes, and his reputation in the industry was unmatched. He painted and worked until he retired at age 75.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed chasing pheasants back in his hometown and in North and South Dakota. He also spent many hours on Lake Mille Lacs pursuing large walleye.
His love of sports led to him being an integral part of developing the football and baseball programs (New Hope Athletic Association) for the young community of New Hope in the 60s and 70s. He coached both Steve and Tom in baseball for many years.
Bob and Jayne enjoyed trips to their retreat on Mille Lacs, to the casino, snowmobiling, Las Vegas, salmon fishing, spending time with family, and many other adventures.
Join us to celebrate Bob's life on Friday, February 18th at Church of St. Raphael, 7301 Bass Lake Road, New Hope. Visitation 9-10 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, and luncheon to follow. Private burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Ferry family.
