Louise Luessenheide, 100, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at St. Therese of New Hope nursing home in New Hope, MN. Born August 20, 1911, in Lively Grove, Illinois, the oldest of 3 children, to John and Mary (McLaughlin) Luechtefeld, she married Harold C. Luessenheide Nov. 28, 1935, in Lively Grove, IL. He died January1, 1989.
Louise attended high school at Notre Dame Academy in Nashville, IL, earned an Associate’s Degree at Southern Illinois University, and taught in private and public elementary schools.
A long-time resident of Princeton, IL, Louise worked as a bookkeeper at the Farm Bureau and at Pioneer Hybrid Corn Company. In retirement, she volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, Perry Memorial surgical waiting room and in the elementary school lunch program. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic church in Princeton.
She is survived by her son, H. Duane (Karen) Luessenheide of Plymouth, MN; 3 granddaughters, Katrin (Tom) Salyers of London, England, Gretchen (David Johnson) Luessenheide of New Hope, MN; Ingrid (Jerrod) Restemayer of Minneapolis, MN; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter (Mary Elouise), 2 brothers and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 30 at the Kapala-Glodek Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Rd., New Hope, MN from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. In July, Norberg Funeral Home in Princeton, IL will assist with interment following a Memorial Mass.
