Theresa M. Heller

Theresa M. Heller of New City passed away December 4, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years young. Theresa was born on April 2, 1923 to Timothy and Mary (Murphy) Harnett.Theresa married Leslie "Jim" Heller Jr. on September 17, 1949. They moved to New City in 1955. While raising her children, she worked full-time at Rockland Boces as an assistant purchaser for 22 years. Theresa had a second home in Long Beach Island, NJ, where her family made countless memories. She also enjoyed her hobbies of genealogy, gardening, and attending her seniors' club at Seniors II in New City.She was predeceased by her loving husband, "Jim" and loving daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Doug Ploeser. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Heller of McKinney, TX, and Frances Dolce (husband Chris) of New City, NY; son, James Heller (wife Janet) of Shrub Oak, NY; and brother, James Harnett of Huntersville, NC. Theresa is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Visiting hours will be on Friday, December 6th at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main Street in New City. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 128 Parrot Road in West Nyack, followed by internment at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Hospice of Rockland.
