Michelle Brownlee passed away peacefully on the morning of October 12, 2024, at the age of 60 years old, after a battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family at her bedside. She handled the disease the same way she handled everything in her life; with her head held high, a sense of grace, and a smile on her face.
She is survived by her three sons, Lenny, Skylar, & Jordan, and her beloved mother, Rosetta. All whom loved her dearly and will always remember her boundless love, quiet charm, unmistakable grace, and natural elegance and style that shone brightly in everything she did.
Michelle was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 6, 1964. She moved to Harlem with her mother when she was a young girl and has lived in New York ever since. She earned her bachelor’s degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After marrying her ex-husband and father to her three kids, Leonard Brown, she moved to Stony Point, NY to start and build a family.
Michelle was the absolute best mother, daughter, and friend in the world. Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her, loved her immensely. She was a calming voice in chaos, an anchor in choppy waters, a beacon of light in the dark. Simply put, she was love personified. She was selfless and would give you shirt off her back if you needed it. If she gave you her word, you never had to second guess anything.
As a mother, she raised three boys into men and sacrificed a lot to put all three of her sons through school. There were many times where she would go without to ensure that we didn’t have to. She never missed a birthday, game, practice, graduation, or school meeting. We can never repay her for all that she did but will honor her by following the strong example that she set. In her long list of professional & personal accomplishments, she was most proud of having raised three college graduates.
As a daughter, Michelle’s love for her mother, Rosetta, was a testament to her deep sense of family. When her mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Michelle cared for her with the same devotion she gave to everyone in her life. Even as she faced her own health battles, she never wavered in her dedication, always making sure her mother was cared for, fed, and comfortable.
Michelle was the backbone of her family. Her presence will be missed every day, but her spirit will live on through the example she set—of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those she held dear.
At Michelle’s request, a private ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held with family and close friends in lieu of a formal service.
