He graduated from Archbishop Molloy High school as well as Manhattan College. He married the love of his life, Susan, in 1973. Joe retired from US Customs and Boarder Protection as the Port Director for Raleigh Durham. He loved traveling whether it by sea on a cruise ship or visiting Disney World in Florida, he was always planning his next trip with Susan.
He was an avid Giants fan since he was a 5-year-old boy. He is survived by his wife Susan of over 50 years. His son, Bill Rachis, daughter-in-law Stefanie. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter Brooklyn or Ms. B as he affectionately called her. As well as his sister Joan Hermann and his brother-in-law Charles Hermann. His sister-in-law Mary Dolan and brother-in-law James Dolan. In addition to his nieces and nephew Maureen, Patricia, and George. As well as his great niece Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents Margery and Joseph Rachis, and his brother George F. Rachis. And last but not least his sidekick and man’s best friend Halo his yellow lab.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Hawthorne NY on Friday August 23,2024 at 10:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel. 10 West Stevens Ave Hawthorne NY.
