Anita Maurizio

Anita E. Maurizio of New City, NY, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024. Anita was predeceased in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Eugene, and her sister Carol. She is survived by her nieces and nephews (Theresa, Lisa, Wayne and Douglas) and their spouses/partners (Philip,Rusty and Holly) and their children (Allison, Gayle, Stephanie, Christopher and Jaxson) and Stephanie’s and Christopher’s children (Braxton, Cameron and Caden).

She is also survived by cousins (Barbara, Lawrence, Lorriane, Gaetano, Joan) and their children and grandchildren as well as cherished friends Margie, Bill, Alexandra and Sandra. Anita cherished time spent with family and friends, reading the New York Times cover to cover every day, watching movies and donating to charities dedicated to the welfare of animals.

Anita was born in Manhattan, NY to Antoinette and Michael Cassotta on February 17, 1935. She married the love of her life, Eugene, on August 16, 1958. Anita worked in New York City for many years at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company before retiring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anita’s memory would be gratefully accepted to any of the charities Anita supported: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org ); the American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ); the Humane Society ( www.humanesociety.org ).

A visiting for Anita Maurizio will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 S Main St, New City, New York 10956. Thursday a service will be held at 10:00 AM by Rev Lothrop followed by a Burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, a lunch will be hosted by the family on Thursday following burial at the cemetery.
