Michael F. Iozzo, 53, of Ellington, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Michael was born in Southbridge,MA and grew up in New Britain, CT. He spent many years in New Hampshire where he loved to live and lived to ride. He currently resides at his home in Ellington with his wife Gail (Hannigan) Iozzo and his beloved dog, Molly.
Michael was employed by Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Hartford Hospital. He attended E.C. Goodwin Technical School where he graduated valedictorian of his class (1976). Michael went on to attend New Hampshire Technical College and Stony Brook College, NY; he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a certificate of completion as a Physician Assistant.
Michael was a generous and loving man who lived life to the fullest and was devoted to his family and friends; he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his mother, Jane (Tully) Iozzo of Berlin, CT, his wife, Gail and their family of four children: Christopher, Debra, Timothy and Kimberly Munson; a brother, Gregory Iozzo of Unionville, sister-in-law: Maria (Allegrini) Iozzo of Newington, his godparents; Debbi Sichol and Benjamin Tully of Southbridge, MA and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, great nephews and nieces, a host of very dear friends and neighbors. Michael is predeceased by his father, Anthony F. Iozzo and his brother, Anthony F. Iozzo Jr.
Funeral services will begin Friday, January 14, 2011 at 9am at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Jerome Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 from 4-8pm at the funeral home.
