On behalf of President/Chief Administrator David Eustis and the entire Northwest Catholic High School community, I offer my deepest sympathy on the passing of Mark Lynch III.

Because his children, Mark Lynch '89 and Karen Lynch Keefe '93, are cherished members of our school family, we feel that their father was, too, and we mourn his death along with all those who love him.

Please know that we are holding everyone in the Lynch and Keefe families very close to our hearts this week, and that we will include Mark on the prayer list at our first school-wide Mass in September. We are very sorry for your loss.

I first met Mark when I began working at CG in 1972.  In all these years of knowing Mark the trait that stands out to me is his caring about people and going out of his way to help people in any way he could.  One way he helped me was in 2006.  Less than 6 months after I retired due to job elimination, my husband Walter (who Mark also knew through CG) suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at age 58.  Needless to say I was devastated and concerned about how I was going to manage financially.  Just a few months later Mark called me inquiring if I would be interested in a part-time job.  I jumped at the opportunity and worked that part-time consulting job for the better part of 5 years.  I will be forever grateful to Mark for his part in making this part of my life so much better financially, emotionally, and socially.  I know he has interceded for others in a similar fashion.  He will be missed by so many but also remembered fondly by many.

Mark, Karen, and Andrew, sending you and your families my condolences on the loss of your Dad. I witnessed his great importance and presence in your lives long ago. May he rest in peace. My prayers are with you.

I had the honor of working with Mark--he epitomized what a gentleman was every day of his life.

I was sorry to hear about Mark passing.  I will never forget his generosity towards me at a time of need.  A great guy who is now home and at peace.  I hope you all find strength among each other and may his memory burn bright forever.  He has not left you; you will feel his company when you least expect it.

"Red Sox", those words whispered in our ear by Uncle Mark were the start of a magical adventure. The adventure would start by having to sneak away from the siblings (those of us left behind would eventually realize someone was missing - it only took a second for us to utter 'Uncle Mark - Red Sox!). He would give a set of instructions that may include shimmying over fences, military crawling through tall grass and hiding behind bushes at the rendezvous point. We would huddle, trying not to be seen by anyone, until he peeled up and threw open the door. Diving in, he congratulated you on 'getting away. The adventure wasn't over. Once at Fenway Park we would start at the bleacher section. Not good enough. He would lead us on an obstacle course through Fenway park, sneaking from section to section, balancing on a ledge past the bullpens until we finally got to the grandstands and blessed shade. My children have all heard my Uncle Mark stories, and they will continue to hear them. I will always be thankful to Mark for filling my childhood with wonder and magic and humor. Mark made everything an adventure. His entire life was a great adventure. I will miss his huge, generous, sensitive, funny, loving heart.

Uncle Mark was my favorite uncle. He was the fun one and seemed to be magical at times.  I was in awe of the things he could do.  As I got older and learned his magic, I looked in the eyes of the next generation and saw that awe.  What a gift that was and I have him to thank. He will be missed but he will live on in our hearts and in the next generation's awe.

Thank you for walking me home safely from school when we were kids and for never being too old to play Cowboys and Indians with me.

Mark was like a father to me in the 80s.  He coached me in baseball for several years, and other than my own home, I spent more time at the Lynch house than any other as a teenager with my best friend being his son Mark.  He was always very generous and caring to me.  I can't say how many times he gave his Hartford Whalers season ticket to me, and dropped Mark IV and me at the game, and picked us up at the end.  He was a great man will be fondly remembered by me forever.  My deepest condolences for your loss.

Our deepest sympathy to Mark and Heather and all of the Lynch family.  Losing a parent is never easy.  May you have peace knowing your Dad is finally at rest after a hard battle.  Love and prayers.

Several years ago, while I was entertaining the children, my wife quietly but firmly said, Uncle Mark! Playtime was over, but storytime was about to begin. My daughter was puzzled. Why did Mama call you Uncle Mark?

My uncle knew all the best jokes, games, and tricks. We were amazed by the bendy pencil, the rubber finger, and the detachable thumb. We were entertained by the musical nose, the pendulum hand, and the twisty wrist. We lined up for our turn to be spun, tossed, and flipped. There were surprisingly few injuries.

We practiced on each other. We showed our friends. We got better, and we got older. We became parents. We amaze and entertain, but rarely injure, the next generationand they are practicing for when they are the mothers, fathers, aunts, and especially uncles. And everybody knows that when they hear Uncle Mark! it's probably best to end playtime, and begin storytime. 

Uncle Mark taught me to encourage the joy and wonder of youth in my children by embracing, and occasionally reliving, memories of my own. I continue the tradition in memory of him.

Although I have only met you a few times, I have heard nothing but good stories about you from my mother, Lynne Banki. She told me how much of a wonderful uncle you were and how you will truly be missed. I hope Ahura Mazda is up there taking extra special care of you.
