On July 23, 2014, John S. Roman passed away. He was born in Hartford, CT on August 24, 1926 to Joachim and Aniela Roman. He was taken to Poland as a child and resided there until 1958 when he returned to the United States.
He survived World War II being a prisoner of war in a labor camp and taking part in the Polish Resistance Movement. After the war, he lived in Szczecin where he became the head of a large manufacturing company. He married Stanislawa Misilo and became the father of two daughters. He came back to the United States with his family. After several years working in manufacturing, he was hired by Combustion Engineering as draftsman and later as a senior checker and troubleshooter. He was a man of many talents, especially of repair of anything broken. He enjoyed all his many friends especially his bridge club, poker parties and family gatherings and other social events. He was a devoted grandfather to his two grandsons, Matthew Harbut and Andrew Harbut, and his step grandson, Timothy Fine.
He leaves behind his wife, Stanislawa, daughter, Dr. Alicja Harbut and her husband, Dr. John Harbut and their two sons; daughter Bozena Fine and her husband Darryl Fine and his son Timothy.
Funeral services will begin Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 9:00am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D.Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by his funeral liturgy at 10AM in Holy Cross Church.
