She was a daughter of the late Michael Medvec Sr. and Jean (Banasiewicz) Medvec.
She was married for 27 years to the late Ralph Ives Barry.
Before her retirement, she worked for 16 years for the New Britain School System.
Joanne is survived by 3 children, Kevin M. Barry and his wife, Gretchen M. Barry; Belinda DiPietro and her husband, John DiPietro; Scott A. Barry and his wife, Sandra; she leaves a sister Diane Stange.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 10 AM New Britain Memorial/Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain. (Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, funeral home is 1 ½ miles on your right.)
Relatives and friends are welcome to pay their last respects on Tuesday morning from 9:00Am till the time of service at the Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
