Janina Lausch

She was born in Przemysl, Poland on April 1st in 1925 to Maria (Oreczak) and Wladyslaw Falta, the youngest of five children. Her parents, her brothers, Kazimierz and Victor, her sisters, Helena and Genia, as well as her husband, Wlodzimierz Lausch, who died in November 2007, predeceased her.

During World War II in Poland, Janina, as a young teen, suffered under the hands of the Nazis, forced to do hard labor, and subsequently, as war progressed, suffered under the regime of Communist Russia. During this time she served in the Polish Underground.

After World War II, Janina and Wlodzimierz met in Austria in a resettlement camp, and were married on September 1945. She moved with Wlodzimierz to Italy where he continued to serve as a Polish Army officer under British Command. Their first son, Henry, was born in Italy. They left Italy, moving to London, England. After 5 years there, they immigrated to the United States in 1951, specifically New Britain, CT, where the second son, Janusz, was born.

Janina was very active in the New Britain Polish community, spending over 40 years with the Paderewski Polonia Choir, volunteering with the Women’s Auxiliary of General Haller Post 111, worked at Corbin Lock Company, the millinery Department of D&L’s, and finally at the Travelers Life Insurance Company for 16 years, retiring in 1989. Her loving attentiveness and deep care for her many friends will be missed by all especially those friends with whom she sang in the Paderewski Polonia Choir.

Janina leaves behind son Henry Lausch and his wife Linda, son Janusz Lausch and his wife Marie, grandson Brian Lausch and his wife, Christy, granddaughter Kristina Lausch, granddaughter Tracey-Ann and her husband Tony Torres, granddaughter Angelique and her husband, Freddy Cortez. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Anna and Benjamin Lausch, as well as Annika Cortez. Finally, she leaves “Snookie Cookie” dog, Jacob, who liked her a lot for all the cookies and bread she fed him.

The family extends its deepest regards to the staff of Farmington Care Center who took care of Janina not only in a very professional manner but also with sincere and heartfelt consideration as if she was a family member.

Funeral services will begin (date and time TBD) at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at (time TBD) in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
