On February 25, 2022 Andrzej Czopik ended his earthly journey and fell into the eternal embrace of his Creator. He overcame many obstacles throughout his life. He was born in humble circumstances during World War II, in the village of Krasiczyn, Poland. He faced his first major struggle at the age of 6, after losing his father to a sudden illness. He grew up poor but not without ambition. He studied hard and put himself through college (Silesian Polytechnic in Gliwice) and graduated in 1971 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in various managerial roles in the mining and automotive industries before immigrating with his family to the US in 1992 at the age of 48. It was a difficult decision, knowing it would set him back in his career but he put his family first. He worked very hard and was determined to succeed. He ultimately settled on a mini farm of 11 acres in Bristol, CT, where he built his dream home. Andzej remained active after retirement, staying true to his life motto “to do at least one useful thing every day”. He maintained a strong daily regimen of running/walking (each day except for Sundays) and keeping a heathy diet. To his loving wife of 54 years he was known as “Andrzejek”. To his children he was known as “Tatus” (Daddy), and to his grandkids as “Dziadziu” (Grandpa). All who knew him respected and admired his strength of character, his perseverance and his big heart. He leaves an unfilled void in our hearts and a treasure of memories to remember him by including his witty sense of humor and his infectious laughter. “Farewell Andrzejku, Tatusiu, Dziadziu. We are sad to see you go and can’t wait for our reunion.”
