Roman Lehmann

Roman Lehmann passed away on March 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Erwin Lehmann Sr. and Valeska Krueger Lehmann on December 13, 1934, in the farmhouse on the highest hill southwest of Staples, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Erwin Lehmann Sr. and Valeska Krueger Lehmann; brothers, Jerry Lee Lehmann and Larry Wayne Lehmann; sister, Gladys Lehmann Jahnsen; loving wife Lillian Marie Seidel Lehmann; son, Wayne Neal Lehmann, and grandson, Chris Saur. He is Survived by brothers, Norman Lehmann Sr., Erwin Lehmann Jr. and wife Helen, Lenard Lehmann and wife Patricia (Patty; sisters, Alice Lehmann Wahl, Doreen Lehmann Henk. Roman is also survived by his daughter Karen Lehmann Dodson and husband Sammy; grandsons, Curt John Saur and wife Jessica, Korey Roman Saur and wife Andrea and Clay Joseph Saur and wife Kameron and 5 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces, and cousins.

Roman joined the Texas National Guard 36th Division Artillery Medics Unit at the age of 17 and served for 6 years with Honorable Discharge. He met the love of his life, Lillian Marie Seidel Lehmann at a dance at then the Echo Hall later known as Eagles Hall after a National Guard Medics Christmas party, they married on June 12, 1956. He has been a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church since 1955. He has been a farmer since his childhood and farming with his family as a young boy, which he has continued to grow grain crops Milo, Corn, Wheat and Oats until the later part of 2022. He loved going to the Polka dances, Antique Tractor Pulls and participating in our local surrounding Fair Parades riding his original one owner Farmall 350 Tractor with his grandson Clay Saur, of which the Tractor and grandson took home several trophies. The Farmall 350 is still running in Parades and Antique Tractor Pulls today with his next generation, as he is with them every step of the way. He started working for business people at a very young age; at Heitkamp Floor Covering as a helper, Dewy Fischer Construction as a Dump Truck Driver, Bock Motor Company as a Mechanic, ADM Feed Mill as a Feed mixer, Emil Seidel Contracting as a carpenters helper and not long after that he made Master Carpenter making Custom Cabinets with Lazy Susan’s, and Oval Counter Tops. After that he went to work for CISD in the Maintenance Department until he retired at the age of 62. He still did family farming thru the later part of 2022. He continued to make homemade Panas, cooked sausage, canning pickles, sauerkraut, and cooked jelly with is daughter Karen to carry on her mom’s traditions. He also continued his carpentry of many, many wood projects with his daughter, all up to the time of earning his Angel Wings.

One of his greatest passions of things to do was to be his grandson Clay’s babysitter from the time he was 3 years old till the time he started school. He really enjoyed his 3 grandson’s farming with him at a very young age and also making homemade wine from Spanish grapes and Mustang grapes!!! He was also involved with 4-H with his children as a leader. Also a member of the Comal County Livestock Association, a member of the Mission Valley Bowling club, a life member of the Freiheit Bowling Club where he enjoyed Prize Bowling and Trophy Bowling. He was a member of the New Braunfels Good Time Polka & Waltz Club until his wife passed in 2018. Roman also loved passing the time by playing Straight Dominos! He always had one valuable true statement “I CAN FIX ANYTHING BUT....... A BROKEN HEART" of which it still stands true today!! He was also very willing to share any of his knowledge of farming, carpentry, and mechanic and wine making with anyone who was interested and willing to ask for his knowledge. Roman was always eager and willing to lend a helping hand to others.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 5-9 PM with Rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or New Braunfels Hope Hospice or Charity of one’s choice.
