Robert “Bob” Allen Rosinbaum, Jr. passed away in New Braunfels on February 4, 2016, just 7 days prior to his 88th birthday. He was born to Robert Allen and Fannie Reynolds Rosinbaum on February 11, 1928 in Hawley, Texas. He graduated from Eula High School in 1946 and then served in the Army Air Corps from 1946 to 1949. Afterwards, he attended Sul Ross University and Hardin Simmons University. On April 18, 1952, he married Flora Nichols and they had three children. He then began his lifetime career working for Humble Oil Company, Atlantic Richfield, and Aramco Oil in operational management and technical writing. While working for Aramco, he lived in Saudi Arabia and was able to travel to many places including Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, and France. In 1983, he returned to the United States and settled in Canyon Lake, Texas.
Robert’s passion was his love of art. He was an artist who drew and painted everything imaginable, from portraits to idyllic country scenes. He used different mediums: oil, water colors, pastels, and charcoal. But, what he enjoyed doing most of all was cartooning. He drew all types of cartoons, but focused primarily on single frame cartoons.
Reading was another one of his passions. He was an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction and spent nearly every night reading into the wee hours of the morning on his Kindle. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially the Spurs.
He was a member of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The New Braunfels Art League, and the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Fannie Rosinbaum, two brothers, Jack Rosinbaum and Riley Rosinbaum, and a sister, Sue Rosinbaum Smith.
He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Flora Nichols Rosinbaum, two daughters, Debbie Rosinbaum Lyons and her husband Wendall, Sandy Rosinbaum, and son Larry Rosinbaum and his wife Marta, two granddaughters, Alison Lyons, and Amanda Lyons Bewley and her husband Wesley, and one great grandson Wyatt Bewley. Also surviving is his brother Curtis Rosinbaum and his wife Pat and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Robert was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
