Mark Edward Vernon, 67, of New Braunfels Texas pass away peacefully at home with family on May 8, 2024. Mark is preceded in death by his father, John Vernon and mother, Mary Vernon. Mark is survived by his wife, Cindy and their children, Jesse Vernon and his wife of Austin Texas, Sara Vernon of Austin Texas and Samuel Vernon and his wife of Memphis Tenn. Mark is also survived by 3 grandchildren.
Mark grew up in Eldon Missouri around Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed boating, swimming, skiing and fishing with friends and family on the lake. He achieved his bachelor of science degree from Southwest Missouri State University. Upon graduation, he became an officer in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Leesville Louisiana. After the Army, we moved to Lake Charles Louisiana where he worked offshore for Shell Oil Company. While in Louisiana he perfected his crawfish and shrimp cooking skills. With his flexible 7-day home/7-day offshore schedule we were able to move to New Braunfels Texas. Upon moving to New Braunfels, he further perfected his BBQ, grilling, and smoking skills. He was often called “The Grill Master” and we hosted numerous friends and family gatherings.
Arrangements for the celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 AM at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels Texas.
