Mrs. Kathryn Dubin Flynn died peacefully, serenely and with dignity surrounded by her family on November 13th, 2015 following a life lived purposefully and after an extraordinary battle with Myelofibrosis and Glioblastoma. She was 50. It was extremely important to Kathy that people recognize that no one loses a battle with an illness. The battle may come to a finish, and life on earth may end as we know it, as all lives do, but the journey is belittled by saying a person lost their battle with a disease. The human spirit is always victorious, and no one would dare say that Kathy lost a battle of any kind. Indeed, her victory is in the relationships that she leaves behind for now, and the indelible inspiration that she etched in the memory of all who came to know and love her. Kathy married Jim Flynn on September 18, 1993 in an unforgettable setting in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Mrs. Flynn had three wonderful children whom she adored with her entire being; Samuel Tucker, Abigail Kathryn, and Hannah Dorothy. Giving birth to them and raising them with her devoted husband to be the people they have become, meant more to her than anything else in her life. She is also survived by her Mother, Patricia Dubin of Ann Arbor, MI, and three brothers; Douglas Dubin of Ann Arbor, MI, David Dubin and Heidi Gambino of Newton, MA, and Michael and Darla Dubin of Ann Arbor, MI. She was also a beloved Aunt to 12 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by her beloved Father, Dr. Howard V. Dubin of Ann Arbor, MI. Mrs. Flynn was educated at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. After graduation from college and completing masters degree coursework at Western Michigan University, she moved to Boston, MA and embarked on a career in advertising where she met her husband Jim, a commercial photographer. The couple moved to New Braunfels, TX in 2008. Mrs. Flynn was a Rock Star Volunteer for causes that meant a great deal to her, most notably – the Love Hope Strength Foundation, where she worked to sign up hundreds of people for the bone marrow registry. She was also a tireless advocate for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in honor of her Father who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease. Visiting hours will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 17 at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, TX 78130. A funeral service to honor Mrs. Flynn’s life will take place at Oakwood Church of New Braunfels, located at 2154 TX-337 Loop, New Braunfels, TX 78130 at 2:00 PM on November 18. Mrs. Flynn will be cremated and laid to rest in a private family ceremony.
