Jerry Wayne Engelke of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017. He was born on April, 16, 1949 in Seguin, Texas to Clarence and Dorothy Engelke. Jerry joined the US Army in 1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran. After serving in the Army he continued to serve his community in civil service as a fire fighter for 27 years. On June 26, 1999 he married his loving wife Carol Saur. They shared 18 wonderful and joyful years together. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bird watching. He loved traveling with his wife especially to the Caribbean and loved fishing with his family in Rockport, TX. Jerry will always be remembered for being a gracious husband, awesome father, and a dear friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Engelke; brother, Jimmie Engelke; grandson, A.J. Myers; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Engelke.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol Saur; son, Sherman Engelke and wife Tina Myers; brother, Johnny Engelke; granddaughter, Brittnie Myers; great-grandson, Taylor Ormsby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home. There will be a Graveside Service on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Rick Pfaff. There will be a Memorial Service held on Sunday, July 23, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church in Boerne, officiated by Rev. Aaron Goeke.
