Jerry Lee Acker, 46, of New Braunfels, was called home on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Jerry was born on November 7, 1968 to Robert and Darlene (Etter) Acker. He was a lifelong New Braunfels resident who loved his community. Jerry was a mathematics teacher for over 23 years. Most of his career was at Judson High School in Judson ISD. This last year he made the transition to Canyon High School in Comal ISD. Jerry loved both his Judson and Canyon families dearly. He loved all of his students and had great compassion for what he taught. Jerry was an avid bowler at Mission Valley Bowling Club where he bowled on several trophy and mixed teams and served as a coach on the Junior Bowling Team. He also enjoyed a good round of golf with his teaching buddies.
Jerry’s greatest pride in his life was his family, his wife of 15 years, Rhonda Lux-Acker and his children, Kathleen (14) and Nathan (11). Jerry is also survived by his parents Robert and Darlene Acker, grandmother Doris M. Grimm, brother Bryan, wife Rita, and niece Kara of Spring Branch, his sister, Tina and nephew Rusty of San Antonio, mother in law Donna Lux of New Braunfels, brother in law Martin Lux, wife Richelle, nephew Jacob and nieces Ella and Ava of New Braunfels and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his father in law Harry Lux, grandparents Gladys (Wehmeyer) Etter, Leonard C. Etter, Gilbert O. Acker, Mildred (Eismann) Acker, and Daniel O. Grimm.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 15 from 5-7 at Zoeller Funeral Home. The family will be present. A rosary will be recited at 7:00. A funeral mass will be Monday, March, 16 at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church beginning at 9:30. A gather will be immediately following the mass in the church hall.
