Eola married the love of her life, Cecil Porterie, in 1963, and moved away from home where she established roots in New Braunfels, TX. It was here she raised four children in a loving household.
She was an active and passionate member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where she ran the gift shop for several years, co-founded the prayer day cenacle, and was a Eucharistic minister. She was proud to receive her cross from the Women's ACTS retreat. Her faith in God was evident to the many lives she touched and influenced.
During her career in the nursing home industry she was well known as a patient advocate. Her compassion was evident in the warmth she showed her patients. She also worked many years in the construction industry in administration.
After retirement, she enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, maintaining a robust circle of friends, traveling, and spending time in nature and her garden.
She leaves a lasting legacy as a compassionate, selfless, caring mother, wife, and woman of her faith.
Eola was preceded in death by her parents, Felton and Madeline Carmouche; husband, Cecil Porterie; sister, Margaret Larkin; brother, Jerome Carmouche; and grandson, Aaron Lickert. She is survived by; brothers, Michael Carmouche, Felton Carmouche Jr. (Stephanie), and Christopher Carmouche (Monica) ; children, Wayne Porterie, Tina Porterie, Karen Porterie, and Myra Creely (Bryan); and grandchildren, Wesley Porterie, Nicholas Lickert, Wade Porterie, Rosemary Lickert, Austin Creely, and Colton Creely.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 5-9:00 p.m.; with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery on Peace Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, TX. The family is so thankful for their wonderful, loving care during the last hours of her blessed life.
