Banks David Byrne, Jr., (Blackie), 90, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, Texas. He was born to Banks David Byrne, Sr. and Nettie Ruth Clary in Iola, Texas on September 29, 1927.
A WW II veteran, brother, husband, father and grandpa; he was a friend to everyone he met, his laughter and twinkling blue eyes will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Byrne; children, Pam Byrne of Houston; Mark Byrne of Houston; Greg Byrne of Albuquerque, NM; Becky Byrne of Houston; Cynthia Byrne of New Braunfels and Laura Byrne of New Braunfels; 8 grandchildren, Taylor, Steven, Kelsey, Ryan, Nathan, Matthew, Bianca, and Summer; 4 great-grandchildren, Charessa, Savannah, Zoey and Jackson Banks; brother, Bill Byrne; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda McCormack.
A Service with Military Honors will be held 2:45 PM, Monday December 18, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
