Walter attended school in Michigan where he was an outstanding track and football player. He went to Oscoda High School and then University of Michigan where he earned degrees in biological sciences and dentistry. He later earned a degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
After graduating he spent two years in the US Air Force Medical Corp.
Walter was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting quail, duck and deer. He also loved to fish offshore.
Walter practiced as an oral surgeon in New Bern and was a member of the staff at CarolinaEast for 36 years. He retired in 2006. He is survived by his partner, Terry Cuff, five children, Lisa Young, Jason Secosky, Allison Morgan, Forrest Secosky, and Meredith Secosky, and 10 grandchildren who were all the love of his life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Cotten Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel at Cotten Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He will be laid to rest at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, North Carolina with military honors at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
