Vernon worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 26 years. He was a hard worker in all that he did, but one thing is for certain, Vernon played hard too! One of his favorite hobbies was playing pool. If there was a pool table nearby, Vernon would rack the pool balls and simply had fun. He was always ready to play pool! When Vernon was not enjoying a game of pool, you could find him in his living room watching sports on one of his three TVs. Needless to say, he was fanatic about sports. Vernon loved watching sports, going to games, and talking sports with others. Vernon did not meet a stranger because within no time they would strike up a conversation about sports or squirrel hunting, another hobby he greatly enjoyed. Although Vernon worked and played hard, it can be said that he loved his family with all of his heart. Family meant everything to Vernon. All who knew and loved him will miss him greatly.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home. Vernon's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home. Following the service, Vernon will be laid to rest at the Gaskins Family Cemetery, Bridgeton, NC.
