What a beautiful soul! I met Susan and Earl when they came to my house 30 miles outside of Raleigh to adopt Susie Q. I couldn't have asked for a nicer family to adopt her! After interviewing them for a while I learned that we had many things in common especially a love for the Wolfpack. I enjoyed keeping up with Susie Q on facebook and seeing her many adventures with the family. My heart and prayers go out to Earl and the family...

My heartfelt condolences to Earl and the rest of the family.  I met Susan when she was Assistant Director of Contracts and Grants at NC State University.   A few years later Susan became Director of Foundations Accounting.  I learned a lot from Susan and have the nicest memories of our interactions.  I can still hear her soft but assertive voice.  She was kind and had a great way of explaining and solving complicated matters in a way that made sense.  

May the peace and love from God comfort the family and close friends.

I miss her so…. My birth day sister. We used to joke we were sisters from another mother. Born the same day 2 year apart. We shared NC State and the Pack. We are both from small NC towns 2 hours from Raleigh -one East one west. We both enjoyed red wine so now I may give it up. We worked out together after meeting at OLOL gym for a workout Susan wasn’t quite sure about but came to love. This evolved into both of us going to several obstacle races then pinky swearing the one at Fort Bragg was our last. We both loved Cameron Village and went to Spin classes there followed by Sunday brunch. She would bring me blueberries and I’d take something baked - chocolate mostly for Earl. 

Being only a mile apart it was easy to just drop whatever and take a walk or have wine on the porch.  Visits to the Boylan Heights Art Walk and Centerfest in Durham were the last big outings. 
Last May she took my place at a mother/ daughter event with my mom. Mom loved it and Susan. I’m so grateful they were friends. Mom and dad had dinner with Susan and Earl at Susan’s house. They had a great time and felt so welcome. 
Susan’s  roasted vegetables were without parallel.  Her hospitality unwavering. Her love genuine and true. My best friend forever. 

I will miss her everyday until we meet again at the wine bar in the cosmos before going for a walk among the stars. 

I love you, Susan.

I am so appreciative that I saw Susan at our class reunion this fall.  She was a wonderful person and a friend since we went to school together in the 70s.  My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
