Leaving behind to honor and cherish Sarah's memories and legacy are her husband of 57 years, Jerry Miller; daughter, Joye Miller; grandchildren, Sierra Petteway her husband, Justin, and Jerod Miller; and great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Joel, and Everett.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Shyanna White.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandma. She married her husband October 7, 1967. They spent 57 wonderful years together. They adopted their only daughter in 1977. In what would have been her retirement years she raised all three of her grandchildren. Then came along great grandchildren and she loved all three of them, in her sickest of days she would reach for their hand to hold and smile at them as long as they would sit there.
She worked tirelessly until she couldn’t anymore. At the start of her career, she was a supervisor for Aiken-Speir Mortgage Company. After getting married, she spent 18 years as the bookkeeper for her husband who was manager of the Piggly Wiggly. Later on in life she spent a few years working in the day care at Ruth’s Chapel.
She always had an open door and a full fridge. She cooked every night for her family, and whoever else would come through the door. No matter who the friend was that was coming she made sure their favorite snack, dessert, or meal was ready for their arrival. She was everybody’s grandma; she would love you like her own and tell you the truth like you were her own too. She never met a stranger and would carry on conversation with anyone she ran into.
She was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman. She never complained, she had a servant's heart, and she was faithful in everything she did. Her presence will be deeply missed for our time here, but what a day that will be when we see her again!
The family will receive visitors from 1:00-2:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Cotten Funeral Home. A celebration of Sarah's life will begin at 2:00 pm. Following the service, Sarah will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Sarah Frances Miller.
