Roger Michael Woodward’s soul left this earth on Jan. 4th, 2024. He was the son of Luther and Ann and brother to Gaynell and Linda. He also had an Aunt, Maddie Lee, and Uncle Leroy who had a big part in his upbringing, and whom he adored, all of whom have also parted ways with this earth before he did.
Many are left here to cherish his memory including. His wife Joyce, Daughter, Heather (James), stepson, Al (Mona), Grandchildren, Lacey (Chris), Lucas & Tyler. Nieces and nephews Mac (Stephanie), Christie (Scott), Rhonda (Dale), Denise, and many great nieces, a great nephew, extended family and friends.
I do not want to write an ordinary obituary for such an extraordinary man. He was so many things to so many people. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a favorite uncle. He was witty and humble, yet optioned. A business owner, an entrepreneur, and a great storyteller. Man, could he tell a story. He had such a great sense of humor. His laugh was contagious.
He was a craftsman, an artist, and a hard worker who knew the value of quality work. He and Joyce built R Woodward and Company from the ground up. They worked hard and built relationships and trust with clients along the way. People who hired painters ended up with a damn good paint job and newfound friendships. Many clients were impressed with their quality of work but also impressed with how down-to-earth and honest they were. The company had a lot of success over the years. They come a long way from the days of the milk truck (if you know you know)
Oh, how I wish he could tell us one more story. I wish he could make us laugh one more time. I would give anything to hear that laugh and see those facial expressions as he tells a story, just one more time.
I hope that he knows how much we love him. I hope he knows how many lives he touched. I hope he knows how much he is missed and most of all I hope that he is at peace.
We are honoring his wishes. He did not want to have a funeral or funeral services. In lieu of flowers, If you wish to contribute to his cremation and expenses we have set up a GoFundMe page. https://gofund.me/fc06f42c
