Mr. Robert H. "Bob" Bacon, 95, of New Bern, passed into Eternal Rest on Friday, March 21, 2025. Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Ann, in 2004. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Virginia A. Bacon, and life partner, James Elston, of Cromwell, CT, and Janet E. Paulin, and life partner, Albert Goslant, of Windham, ME as well as his two grandchildren, Christen Paulin and Nicholas Paulin; his great granddaughters, Elizabeth Anne, and Izabelle Violet. He also leaves his close friend and companion, Patricia Farrell.

Sadly, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mary Bacon, and his sister Gloria Phelps.

Bob attended public schools in his hometown of Rockville Centre, NY, and played on the high school's championship basketball team in the 1940's. He was a graduate of Nichols College in Dudley, MA, and Boston University. Upon graduation from BU in 1952, Bob joined the Acorn Publishing Company on Long Island, NY; specializing in professional publications and ancillary work. He eventually became president and principal owner; as well as the publisher of the firm's weekly newspaper., "The Long Island News and the Owl", in 1969. During many of these, and succeeding years, he served on nominating committees for the Board of Directors of County Federal Saving and Loan Association.

After a 30 year career, Bob sold the publishing company and newspaper in 1982 and moved to Camden, ME, becoming associated with the Allen Agency in residential real estate, where he was a member of the Penobscot Bay Board of Realtors, as well as the West Bay Rotary Club.

In 1992, Bob and his dear wife Elizabeth Ann, moved to New Bern. He loved sports, music, and gardening and most especially, vacations at the family summer home on Nantucket.

He will be laid to rest with his wife following a graveside service at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 3005 Country Club Rd., New Bern, NC 28562.
