Michael Albert McGregor

Michael “Mike” A. McGregor of New Bern, NC, passed away at his home from an extended illness. Michael graduated from New Bern High School in 1969. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, was stationed in England as military police and honorably discharged in 1975. Michael worked with his hands in construction/drywall, growing his own business. Ultimately, he chose employment with the State of NC at Tryon Palace until his retirement in 2007. Michael was an active person, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow gun shooters pursuing the “bull’s-eye” at the CCLEOA, Inc., as well as close contact with friends Brian, Frank and Phil, and favorite companion Juke.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Capriglione McGregor; Father, Robert F. McGregor; stepfather, Douglas Jones and Mother, Irene Piner Jones.

Michael is survived by his son, Anthony Mizak (Jennifer); stepmother, Virginia McGregor; sisters, Sharon McGregor Foley, Laura McGregor (Guy) and Mary McGregor Sanders (Mike); grandchildren, Jacob, Gabrielle, Elisabeth and Alexandra; brother-in-law, John Capriglione (Michelle); niece and nephews, Lisa Foley Lee, Christopher A. Carter and Frederick McGregor Ammirata; Aunt, Selma Piner, many cousins and the “Harlowe Family.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560. Inurnment will be at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
