Linda Osborne Wahnsiedler

Linda was born April 2, 1944, and raised in Wallace, North Carolina. She often talked of her happy childhood in Wallace, surrounded by her family and friends.

After graduating from Wallace Rose-Hill High School, Linda attended Miller Motte Business College receiving a secretarial degree. In 1963, she began her long government career at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C. Later, she transferred to the Social Security Administration, where she climbed to the rank of supervisor. After 36 years, Linda retired from the Social Security Administration of the New Bern, NC office. After retirement, Linda began her second career as a Realtor in the New Bern, NC area. She was a good and caring Realtor for which many of her clients became close friends.

While In Washington, D.C. she met her future husband John R Wahnsiedler and together, they moved frequently with his career with PepsiCo. It was a match made in heaven, and it was obvious to everyone that they were crazy about each other.

Linda was locally active with the Craven County Democratic Party, serving as Chair for both Brices Creek and the H.J. MacDonald precincts. Always the tolerant, open-minded Democrat, she allowed John to display his Republican signs in the backyard for every election.

Linda will be remembered by her many friends as a fun-loving, energetic person who knew how to be a great and caring friend. Linda also loved to travel with friends abroad.

In addition to her parents, George R. Osborne and Polly M. Dixon, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Wahnsiedler of 41 years.

Survivors include her brother, George Osborne, and wife Linda of Swansboro, NC, nephew David Osborne of Beaufort, NC, son Steven Wahnsiedler of Leland, NC, and daughter Vicki Wahnsiedler of Potomac Falls, VA.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Lakeside Chapel in Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern NC.
