NEW BERN – Linda Fulcher Arthur died Saturday evening, February 14, 2015. She was 71. Born in New Bern, North Carolina, Linda assisted her husband, James F. Arthur in managing the family farm. Retired from a career with BB&T where she worked her way up to branch manager, Linda spent 30 years of service with the bank. Much of her time, effort and dedication was invested in her church, Temple Baptist Church of New Bern, North Carolina. Far above her service to her community, she cherished her family where she is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Arthur, 3 daughters, Jennifer A. Koon of Wilkesboro, NC, and her husband, Marty, Katherine A. Gatlin, and her husband, Mark, Stephanie A. Curtis of New Bern, NC, and her husband, Charles. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin Barrero of Wilkesboro, NC, and her husband Danny, Cameron Gatlin of Raleigh, NC, his fiancé, Hayden Vann, Martin Koon of Wilkesboro, NC, Mary Katherine Inman of Oceanside, CA, and her husband, Joey, Meredith Curtis, New Bern, NC, Hannah Gatlin, New Bern, NC, Houston Koon of Wilkesboro, NC, and Cooper Curtis of New Bern, NC. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Richard E. Fulcher, mother, Mamie Parker Fulcher, both of New Bern, NC, and one grandson, James Arthur Curtis. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard F. Fulcher, Edwin Gerald Fulcher, both of New Bern, NC, and one sister, Bonnie Fulcher Flynn of Blackstone, Virginia.
Linda exemplified a faithful servant’s heart in all she pursued, pouring her heart and soul into the lives of others around her. Her dedication to family, friendship and the church was noticed by all whose lives were touched by her. As a loving wife, she married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy, and spent 52 years by his side, supporting the family farm and raising three girls. As a mother, she provided unconditional love, wise counsel and unfaltering support through good times and bad. Those who worked alongside Linda at the bank saw her more as a friend, mentor and someone who could bring reason and compassion into any situation. Excelling in everything she pursued, she volunteered her compassion, skill and expertise for her church, serving on many decision-making teams as well as providing weekly support wherever it was needed. Battling health problems throughout the last several years of her life, she was always there and always placed others before herself. Her passing leaves an empty space in the lives of those she touched. Knowing she is before the face of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, provides both a comfort as well as an example for a life lived as a good and faithful servant.
Arthur family will receive friends at Cotton Funeral Home Tuesday February 17, 2015 from 6-8 PM, Funeral Service will be held at Temple Baptist Church Wednesday February 18, 2015 at 2 PM, Entombment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery.
