Kenneth Charles Fairchild Jr.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3005 Country Club Road, New Bern, NC. Father Thomas Tully will be officiating and the family will receive visitors in the church hall following the service. A private interment will be held following the visitation.

Ken was born in Galveston, TX on January 16, 1935. He was raised in the New York area attending public schools through 1946. His family then moved to Rome, Italy, giving him the opportunity to attend boarding school in Geneva, Switzerland for 3 years. He returned to the United States in 1949 and completed high school in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and received an Honorable Discharge with a Good Conduct Medal. He also served on the Glen Cove Police Department for three years.

Ken was a pilot with Trans World Airlines for 25 years, retiring as Captain in 1991. His first love was flying, but he also enjoyed fishing, boating, and classic cars. He was also actively involved in the Colonial Capital Rods and Classics Car Club.

Ken is survived by his wife of 27 years, Margaret Ann Cobb Fairchild (New Bern); children Kenneth C. Fairchild, III (New Bern), Dawn Fairchild Missory (Chester, VA), and Marc W. Fairchild (New Bern); sisters Linda Fairchild Woodside (Charleston, SC), Diana Keith Raymond (Charlottesville, VA), Dyann Fairchild Miller (Tucson, AZ); and brother Charles Keith (Galveston, TX). He is also survived and will be missed by numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ken is preceded in death by his father, mother, and five siblings.
