Kathleen Marie Daugherty

Kathleen Marie Path Daugherty, age 78, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife and mother who was passionate about life, serving God, and helping others. She had a kind and gentle spirit and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Michael Daugherty of the home; four children, Amber Johnson (Jack) of Fayetteville, AR, Michael Daugherty (Melissa) of California, MD, Kevin Daugherty (Lori) of St. Leonard, MD, and Julie Daugherty (David Piland) of Goldsboro, NC; son-in-law, Luke Xavier of Lothian, MD; grandchildren, Jessica Shumaker, Morgen Gadbois, Connor Bean, Christine Daugherty, Kimberley Daugherty, Elizabeth Daugherty, Adam Daugherty, and Claire Xavier; and great grandchildren, Chloe Shumaker, William Gadbois, David Shumaker, and Jack Gadbois.

Sadly, Kathleen was preceded in death by her daughter, Suzanna Xavier.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023 at the New Bern Church of Christ. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Mr. Stephen Hurst officiating. Kathleen will be laid to rest at the Eastern Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions by made in Kathleen's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
