In his free time, Jack enjoyed coon hunting, and he loved his church family, and his hunting dogs and mules.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ella Lee Thomas, and a son, Jerry Gardner Thomas.
He is survived by two sons, John Mark Thomas, III and wife Gayle of Spring Garden, NC; James “Jimmy” Bryan Thomas and wife Carol of Trent Woods, NC; three daughters, Jackie Lee Ryan and husband George of New Lebanon, OH; Betty Jean Hufstetler and husband Greg of Sellersville, PA; Joyce Woodward and husband Roger of Vanceboro, NC; one brother, Winston Churchhill Thomas of Troy, NC; one sister, Marion Elsie Protosal of New Bern, NC; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Cotten Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Monday, September 15, 2014 at Lakeside Chapel, Greenleaf Memorial Park.
