John was predeceased by his parents Melvin W. and Edith C. Grady of Jacksonville, NC.
John was very active in his community and a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he was a Docent and sang in the choir. He graduated from Atlantic Christian College with a degree in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a Vietnam Veteran and retired as a Lt. Commander.
He is survived by his sister, Edithrose Grady Dixon (Edward) of Trent Woods; nephew, Grady Edward Dixon Sr. (Paige) of Trent Woods; niece, Lynne Dixon Pate (Clay) of Raleigh; great nieces, Caroline Chase Pate and Emily Rose Dixon; great nephew, Grady Edward Dixon Jr.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Christ Episcopal Churchyard. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parrish hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
