Lt. Col. J.T. “Tom” Hagan, III, who was born in Longview, Texas in 1934, “has slipped the bounds of earth and is touching the face of God.” On August 11, 2017 his soul passed from this earth due to complications of health during surgery.
“The Haig” as he was known by his friends, served a distinctive military career of 26 years. During that time he flew many of the Marine Corps planes, including the C-130, F-4 Phantom, A-6, and Huey helicopter. He was also the personal pilot for two Marine Corps Commandants for 3 years.
His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and trips to Africa, along with enjoying time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Sandra; his daughter and family, Kelly and Tony Wood, and grandsons, Kasey and Cody; his son and family, J.T. “Tom” Hagan, IV and wife Carrie, and granddaughters, Katie, Jordan, and Julie; as well as his sister, “Pesky” and her husband Frank Moore of Oak Harbor, WA.
Services for Tom will be on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock at 11 a.m. A visitation and celebration of Tom’s life will be held in the church reception hall immediately after the service.
